WE’RE BACK! It’s been a while since we last published a blog but with the Royal Wedding just days away, our excitement is almost at fever pitch! Royal weddings often set the tone for a generation of young women and wedding trends will generally follow suit, taking inspiration from the on screen fairy-tale. We can’t help but speculate and toy with ideas about a possible wedding theme and what Meghan’s wedding dress will look like? It is estimated that Princess Diana’s inflation-adjusted wedding cost around £81 million, while Kate and William’s was a £25 million affair. So we are pretty certain Meghan and Harry will share the same indulgence for their big day.
Now, it’s fair to say that Meghan Markle is not your conventional Royal Bride. She is an American actress, a divorcee and of mixed heritage. Her father is Caucasian and her mother is African American. Describing her ancestry, Meghan said “I’m half black and half white. … I have come to embrace this and say who I am, to share where I’m from, to voice my pride in being a strong, confident, mixed-race woman.”
Wouldn’t it be a dream to see aspects of her mixed heritage incorporated into her wedding day? A cultural celebration of diversity in a modern era for the British Monarchy. It’s been reported that The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, a Black Bishop presiding over the American Episcopal Church has been selected to read the sermon during the service. Whilst, we are not sure how much Black Cultural influence to expect this weekend, we quite like the idea of an African inspired wedding theme. It would be nice to see the bold vibrancy of African culture providing subtle accents to the royal wedding theme. We like the idea of a traditional English Rose centrepiece complemented by Moroccan tableware, particularly gold accessories, which would be a great nod to her African heritage.
Venue Styling Inspiration for Royal Wedding
Ok, so now let’s talk about the all- important dress! Judging from her engagement photo shoot, Meghan is often a little defiant when it comes to royal tradition. In terms of her personal style, we see a young lady who is willing to take risks that usually pay off. The risqué Ralph and Russo dress Meghan wore is a statement of confidence from a woman who isn’t afraid to push boundaries without being brash, ostentatious or flamboyant.
So what can we expect to see this weekend? The internet is a buzz with design inspirations for Meghan’s dress. We love the elegance of the designs that we have seen so far, here are some of the beautiful sketches and our hand picked favourites:
We are hoping for Hollywood glamour, we want to see a bold confident Meghan Markle cementing her status as a modern royal and a true fashion icon. I guess the burning question on our lips is ‘Will she take a risk or will she play it safe?‘ Like the rest of the world, we shall wait in anticipation for the big reveal this Saturday 19th May 2018.
Our Style Picks for Meghan
This beautiful embellished gown by Justin Alexander Signature embodies Hollywood glamour with a touch of subtle rebellion courtesy of the plunging illusion V-neckline.
However, we suspect Meghan will opt for a more conservative modern gown that is quietly suggestive, which we have seen her do in the past. She would want to be stylish and remain true to herself, whilst still being respectful of Royal Protocol.
