This month we are highlighting the benefits of bridal showers. As more brides take on board the financial impact of bachelorette parties (hen-dos), bridal showers are on the rise. This is because bridal showers are an affordable alternative to often expensive – and sometimes elaborate – hen events.
The Hen-Do is usually thrown by the Maid of Honour, to help the bride forget about the stresses of planning the wedding. It can involve weekend trips abroad, spa breaks, themed parties and additional nights out. Just last month the national press highlighted the growing cost of hen-dos, with wedding guests spending more money on the seemingly never-ending hen party. Bridal showers are a tame and more intimate affair for close friends and family. They are accessible to the important people in your life; so you can share it with your Mum, Gran, Aunty, Niece, Godmother etc. What’s more, with everyone together at the same time, it makes sense to hold a bachelorette party immediately after.
Affordable Bridal Shower Packages
Here at Lotus Event Management, we are bridal shower experts. Our affordable bridal shower packages, which start from just £495, are a popular choice among brides across the West Midlands. We have noticed a stark increase in interest in bridal showers. People who have experienced the pressure to attend expensive hen-do events have vowed not to heap the same level of expense on their wedding guests.
Janet Eboh-Sampson, CEO of Lotus Event Management, points out: The cost of a hen-do can quickly spiral out of control. Expecting your bridesmaids, for example, to spend time and money on trips abroad, nights out, attending dress fittings and rehearsals – not to mention the big day itself – is becoming too much. The cost, for one, can be overwhelming.
“That is why the bridal shower is coming into its own. This affordable option can be easily personalised, giving pre-nuptial events a more meaningful tone. Our clients choose them because they offer more flexibility in terms of location. For example, a bridal shower can be hosted in the home. It doesn’t have to be a huge, expensive and elaborate affair.”

Bridal Shower Styling
Bridal showers are self-contained; they can take on many themes. A traditional dinner or tea party-styled event makes for the perfect celebration – especially if you are holding your bachelorette party later on the same day. Popular themes include the universally popular English garden party, vintage tea party, wellness or pamper-styled event and the all-white wedding theme.
A good event planner will help you style your bridal shower around your personal preferences, including your wardrobe. They will even offer fashion tips and decorate your venue to really accentuate your theme.
From balloons and flowers to cupcakes and table centrepieces, a professional bridal shower package will include all the finishing touches that make a bridal shower extra special. You won’t have to worry about catering or styling the venue, because everything is done for you.

How to Plan a Bridal Shower
The great thing about bridal showers is that there are no hard and fast rules. You can hold your event up to six months in advance of your big day or a week or two before. It really is up to you. If family members are travelling great distances to attend your wedding, an event closer to the nuptials will save guests money and ensure more people attend.
Give your guests plenty of notice. Send out invitations at least a month in advance. Ensure you ask for RSVPs by a set date so you can firm up catering numbers. It is not off-limits to indicate on your invitation the type of gifts you are looking for. You may want to consider asking for kitchen items, for example.
